Macy's Now Requiring RFID Tagging
Macy's and Bloomingdale's will start requiring item level RFID tagging in ten categories starting February in all 810 stores and distribution centers in 45 US states, DC, Guam and Puerto Rico. Macy's has preapproved eleven different tag models from three different manufacturers and twenty samples must be submitted for validation and approval. Any tags not on the preapproved list must be submitted for quality evaluation. This new requirement will allow for better inventory accuracy and ultimately less out of stocks. Suppliers can then rest easy knowing their products are on the shelves. For more information click here.

Technical Terminology Time
EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) - Wikipedia defines this term as "...an integration framework composed of a collection of technologies and services which form a middleware to enable integration of systems and applications across the enterprise." In English, this term is the phrase used when you are referring to the idea that all of your systems can communicate with one another. Your accounting application "talks" to your EDI, your EDI "talks" to your warehouse management software, your warehouse management software "talks" to your e-commerce website, and so on and so forth. And yes, this is possible! Ask us how.
